Brooks Ghost Vs Adrenaline: Everything You Need To Know

Both are amazing footwear for exercise, but they have their subtle differences. The main contrast here is that while the Ghost is a neutral training shoe, the Adrenaline GTS 22 is a stability shoe. In other words, the Brooks Ghost is the shoe to get for everyday exercise, and the Adrenaline GTS is best for runners.

If you need a shoe for both running and regular workouts, then you can choose the Brooks Ghost over the Adrenaline GTS. All in all, you cannot go wrong with either option.

Brooks Ghost 5 vs Adrenaline GTS 22

Both Brooks Ghost 5 and Adrenaline GTS 22 are amazing shoes, but there are some subtle differences that may make you choose one over the other. If you are a runner, definitely go for the Adrenaline GTS 22. If you are into regular workouts, the Brooks Ghost 5 is your pick. But is it really this simple? Check out the detailed differences below.

Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22 Overall Shoe Preview

Sole unit

The sole unit of a shoe is the part that determines the comfort and convenience of the shoe. The thickness and weight distribution of this particular part have huge significance and can make vast differences.

The Brooks Ghost 5 has a BioMoGo DNA midsole made from eco-friendly materials. The best thing is that it adapts to the runner’s stride. I could feel the amazing touch of customized cushioning and responsiveness to the foot, and the comfort and convenience surely saved me energy while working out. The segmented crash pad in the sole unit of this Ghost 5 ensures a smooth transition from heel to toe. I particularly liked this design because I look for a soft and comfortable touch in my shoes.

On the contrary, the Adrenaline GTS 22 has a GuideRails Holistic Support System designed to guide the foot into its natural path of motion. This greatly reduces the impact of overpronation on the knee. The GuideRails technology mainly focuses on stabilizing the foot, and I realized that this reduces excess movement, making the shoe feel very flexible and convenient while running. I particularly enjoyed the support the sole here offered.

Upper Unit

The upper unit of shoes is the most significant part in terms of comfort. Its built material and design make each shoe ideal for different purposes, environments, and weather conditions.

The upper unit of the Brooks Ghost 5 is constructed with breathable mesh and synthetic overlays, offering a comfortable fit for the foot. This upper also features a plush tongue and collar, which not only makes it super comfy but also really snug and secure.

On the other hand, the Adrenaline GTS 22 has a more supportive and secure upper. It features my favorite 3D Fit Print Technology, which is mainly designed to provide a streamlined and modernized fit. I like the look of it. This upper also features an adjustable saddle that perfectly adapts to the runner’s foot shape and provides a customizable fit.

Durability

A shoe’s durability depends exclusively on the build material and the quality of the finishing. When it comes to durability, I found both of these shoes groundbreaking. Surprisingly, their builds are vastly unique. The Brooks Ghost 5 has an HPR Plus outsole mainly made of durable rubber and designed to withstand high-wear areas. This ensures the shoe lasts for an extended period of time and performs its function perfectly. With the week I had with this shoe, I couldn’t find the slightest scratch on it, despite wearing it for around six hours a day. I would recommend it to anyone who spends most of their time in the gym.

The Adrenaline GTS 22 features a blown rubber outsole that provides durable traction on a variety of surfaces. This outsole is not only flexible but also very comfortable and quite springy. Primarily for this reason, I prefer picking up a pair of Adrenaline GTS 22 for running. It doesn’t make me tired immediately and keeps my feet comfortable and healthy.

Overall Opinion

According to thousands of user reviews and my own experience, the Brooks Ghost 5 is tailor-made for neutral runners who want a responsive, cushioned ride that can easily handle any distance. The shoe’s design caters to runners looking for a lightweight shoe that offers comfort and support. Though this is a lot to ask for, Brooks Ghost 5 contains all these features perfectly.

The Adrenaline GTS 22 is also designed for runners; however, this one is more focused on stability and support. This shoe is particularly for those who experience mild to moderate overpronation. GTS 22’s GuideRails technology focuses on stabilizing the foot and reducing excess movement. This makes the shoe more suitable for runners who need stability and support in their footwear.

Conclusion

Every time I try on a shoe, I keep in mind three things: purpose, comfort, and durability. I hardly find an ideal shoe that matches all three, and even if the shoe is great, the price point often disappoints me.

However, this was not the case in my search for exercise and running shoes. When I put on the Brooks Ghost 5, I immediately realized that this was going to be my next and final workout shoe for the upcoming years.

The soft cushioning and breathable upper keep my feet comfortable and healthy. On the other hand, the Adrenaline GTS 22 never fails to save tons of energy while I am running. In simple words, both are amazing options and you can’t go wrong with either. But if you strictly stick with running, I would recommend Adrenaline GTS 22.

However, for everyday exercise, I would pick up any pair other than Brooks Ghost 5. So pick your pair and get moving.
